Back to playing in 2022

We started started 2021 by checking in with our old friend Darin Mahoney who is still creating wonderful music up in Chino Valley and Prescott.

We're wearing our Music Villa t-shirt that Paul up in Bozeman, Mt swapped with us last Summer, seems about time to bring out the J200 again.

Took the Harley Benton guitar out to Fountain Hills for the Concourse in the Hills Car show and a little outdoor strumming.

Breakfast at the car show!

Rex got to do a little setup work on Andy's nylon string Harley Benton guitar. Nice mellow tone.

We got to catch up with everyone on the JoCo Cruise with lots of great music organized by Jonathan Coulten and his friends.

Finally decided to try and build a kit guitar - in this case a Harley Benton P style bass guitar. Finishing the body took most of the time, using a series of dyes and lacquers. Here is a short video of the build process:

A few more guitars made their way to us during 2022.

Fender Player Stratocaster with roasted maple neck.

A hip little Eastwood LG 150T with 4 single coil pickups. That's  right 4 with lots of combinations and tones with all those switches and knobs. Time to surf!

And we got spend some time in France, riding bikes and  checking out a few guitar shops

And we finally got back to playing in front of people thanks to our friends Rick and Barbara at Zonal Music.

Steve Southerland met up with Rex in Whitefish, Montana for some songwriting sessions and hikes around Glacier National Park.

While we were in Milwaukee for the Triathlon Championships, we checked out Dave's Guitars - great shop

They were well stocked with Rickenbackers.

Back in Phoenix we caught Griffin House at the Musical Instrument Museum playing a beautiful 12 string Gibson.

Steve and I met up again in LA for a songwriting conference.

And we capped off the year going to a Big Star show featuring our friend and Big For His Age collaberator, Django Haskins and friends.
